Infozech, BroadSoft to Provide Infra for VoIP operator - Mexico
US telecom billing solutions provider Infozech Software has selected
VoIP applications developer BroadSoft as supplier for end-to-end
infrastructure required by Mexican VoIP services provider MCM Telecom,
the companies said in a joint statement.
Infozech selected BroadSoft's BroadWorks solution, which will allow
MCM to manage mediation, customer management, order entry, credit
control and payments and accounting. An independent interface for
its subscribers will allow it to receive online payments.
This is Infozech's first move into Latin America, though the company
has provided equipment for the US unit of Brazilian telco Embratel,
now owned by Mexican incumbent Telmex, Infozech spokesman Winston
Michael told BNamericas.
The company is now looking to expand in the region, treating Brazil,
Colombia and Chile as priorities, according to Michael.
"We are focusing on the [Latin American] region as a very
promising marketplace because deregulation is coming in fairly late.
In South and Central America a lot of new carriers are emerging
and a lot of them are going the VoIP route," Michael said.
According to Michael many of the smaller carriers in Mexico have
been quicker to adopt VoIP than the bigger carriers and are offering
broadband over wireless and broadband as a means of offering local
phone services.
MCM operates in Mexico City, and is expanding to Guadalajara and
Monterrey.
Infozech Software specializes in convergent billing, mediation
and rating solutions for packet-based converged network environments.
The BroadWorks platform enables wireless and wireline carriers
to deliver next generation voice and multimedia applications and
advanced features.
