Infozech's i-Rater Sets Price/Performance Record on
Solaris 10
Results Showcase Telco Rating Solution's Ability
to Support 250 Million transactions Per Hour; Ranks Among the World's
Fastest Rating Engines
Infozech Software, a leading global provider of convergent billing,
mediation and rating solutions for telcos, announced that its product,
i-Rater, has achieved breakthrough performance on Sun Microsystems'
Solaris(TM) 10 Operating System (OS) and the Sun(TM) Studio 9 integrated
development platform, making it one of the world's fastest rating
engines.
Infozech, which shares a technology partnership with Sun, participated
in performance tests at Sun's iForce Lab in Bangalore to demonstrate
the scalability, high performance and economies of scale offered
by i-Rater.
The tests running i-Rater on a Sun Fire(TM) v880 Server, the Solaris
10 OS, an Oracle9i(R) Database and a Sun Studio 9 C++ Compiler scaled
to support more than 250 million transactions per hour. In the tests,
the Call Detail Records (CDRs) were rated on the basis of the parameters
most important to telephony service providers: destination area
code, event time, duration, effective date, time zone and slabs.
Marking a Breakthrough performance of one billion rateable events
in a four-hour period on an 8-processor machine, the i-Rater and
Sun solution demonstrated a potential to significantly reduce the
hardware and software investment for a large service provider. Today's
results highlight Infozech's ability to scale and clearly position
i-Rater as a powerful solution for large organizations.
These performance tests give customers the opportunity to see how
the solution would perform under real-world conditions in order
to plan configuration requirements and system sizing. As a result
of the testing, Telco customers can now more accurately size their
engine rating solutions, and service providers can rate events not
rated until now. The powerful performance of the combined technologies
from Sun and Infozech can enable telcos to dynamically price services
profitably and create innovative products and bring them to market
within the shortest possible time.
